“Chair Watch” Chair in New Jersey makes for a Humorous Story

This story of “Chair Watch” recently caught my eye because it seemed so nonsensical, yet I can understand why there were thousands of people who found it interesting.  Reportedly thousands of people have been watching a chair on top of a New Jersey home since 2020.  The home sustained serious damage during a storm in 2020 and was viewed by tens of thousands of drivers along state route 47 which heads out the Jersey Shore communities including Cape May.

It should come as no surprise that there was a “Chair Watch” Facebook group that had formed where people would stay informed about the chair’s position and predict the date of its eventual fall.  People posted videos driving by and looking for the chair.

The day finally arrived last week when a storm which produced gusty winds and rain forced the chair down to the ground.

According to Newser, the home’s current owner does not live there and has plans to demolish the property….eventually.

The house with the dangling chair had been damaged in the 1970s by a fire and had roof damage from a storm years ago. The chair was distinctive among the mess of other furniture and other items because it was on the edge of the roof and stayed in a very precarious position for a long duration of time.  Finally, “chair watch” has been given somewhat of an ending.
