Delivering Good is a national nonprofit organization that helps people facing poverty, homelessness, disaster, and other systemic hardships by providing them with essential items.
The organization essentially acts as a massive bridge between corporate supply chains and local communities in need.
Instead of collecting second-hand clothing or products, Delivering Good works directly with the retail and manufacturing industries to collect extra, new items. They then distribute these items through a network of over 800 local community partners (such as shelters, schools, and local charities) across the United States.
They give out new clothing, shoes, home goods, baby gear, books, toys, and furniture.
Delivering Good supports families in poverty, individuals in foster care, those escaping domestic violence, areas hit by natural disasters, and those transitioning back into the workforce.
Beyond the humanitarian aid, Delivering Good serves an important environmental function. By giving retailers and fashion brands a highly organized, reputable way to donate their overstock, they redirect millions of units of perfectly good, unused items away from landfills and incinerators every year.
Since its founding in 1985 (originally starting as Kids in Distressed Situations, or K.I.D.S., before later merging with Fashion Delivers), the organization has distributed more than $3 billion worth of donated merchandise.
