Running of the Bulls in Spain 2025–Crazy & Memorable

Approximately 4000 runners took part in the “Running of the Bulls” at the opening of the San Fermin Festival in Spain yesterday, July 7, 2025.  This dangerous tradition only lasts for a few minutes, but in the past, has taken some lives.  This year, however, no deaths have been reported.  Most of the runners wear the traditional garb of white pants and shirts with a red neckerchief.

Some of the expert Spanish runners try to run alongside the bulls and touch them as they run through the street.

Thousands of spectators watched from the side of the streets or from balconies along the course.  YouTube and other live shows broadcasted the event.

Unofficial records say that at least 15 people have died in the bull runs over the past century.  The deadliest bull run was in 1980 when four runners were killed by two bulls.  The last death reported was in 2009.

I personally know someone who ran with the bulls yesterday in Spain.  I am really looking forward to hearing a first-hand experience.  When I asked my friend how he was preparing for it, he stated that there wasn’t much preparation other than to just run and hope for the best.  What an incredible experience—for sure.
