Mercy Lab Foundation was proud to be a sponsor of the 21st Annual Corporate Spelling Bee held at the Venetian in Leesburg, Florida. This fundraising event features a silent auction, live auction, and chance auction all while having a sit down and catered meal in the lovely Venetian. For entertainment, an MC, who this year was Tim Totten, helped to turn the event into a corporate spelling competition! It was a great opportunity for the participants to come together, have some fun, and showcase spelling skills.
This year Mercy Lab sponsored a “Killer Bee” table of eight guests. Each table became a team and all of the teams competed corporately. The MC gave a word to spell and then each table decided which spelling of the word would be presented to the judge. There is a time limit and also extra points were awarded in some rounds if the correct definition was provided!
In 3rd place was Mount Dora High – MDHS was sponsored by Charles B & Mary M McLin Foundation. The 2nd place prize went to Leesburg High School sponsored by Brown & Brown Insurance. And in the most surprising turn of events for the evening, 1st place went to the Education Foundation of Lake County Board of Directors! Mercy Lab gave it our best shot this year, but did not place in the top three.
