It’s hard to believe that another year has gone. As we look to our new year, I wanted to share some of the trends that are predicted for Foundation giving for 2026.
It’s not hard to guess that one of the biggest trends predicted is the increased reliance and use of technology. The shift would mostly mean AI use and relying on AI for real-time impact data and information.
Transparency continues to be something that Foundations expect from the organizations they fund or are looking to fund. Foundations want to know how funds are used, results are achieved, and reports are derived. Organizations who go through the steps for a “seal of transparency” are valued.
It’s also important to Foundations to find organizations that provide purpose-driven services. It’s hard to measure “meaning” or “happiness” but there are organizations that are providing services that can mean a better quality of life in the present or future. Some even provide life-saving services. The more people that can be helped with these organizations is measured.
In essence, 2026 requires Foundations to be technologically savvy, strategically agile, deeply connected to community needs, and responsive to evolving donor expectations and policy landscapes, all while reinforcing their role as critical anchors for nonprofits.
