As we approach the end of 2022, it’s interesting to look back and see what the trends have been this year in philanthropy and giving in general. Despite economic uncertainty, there are some donors (59% according to Fidelity Charitable) who are planning larger gifts here at the end of 2022.
According to Giving USA, individual Americans donated an estimated $326.87 billion to charity in 2021, a 4.9% rise compared to 2020.
Since then, the stock market has dropped 20%, which may make higher giving predictions seem unlikely, but with donor-advised funds, it has made it easier to give.
Donor-advised funds allows upfront donations with the recipients already chosen in most cases.
The findings of the study found that 67% of donors say they have given more to charitable organizations than they would have if they did not have the guidance of intentional giving with donor-advised funds.
