Will the Endurance be Found?

A private donation of $10 million has launched an ambitious crew to search for “the most unreachable wreck ever…” according to Endurance22 director Mensun Bound. The shipwreck occurred in Antarctica in 1914 as Ernest Shackleton’s ship, Endurance, was stuck in the ice of the Weddell Sea and sank to an estimated depth of 10,000 feet.  The amazing part of the story is that Shackleton and 27 members of his crew survived the wreck.

A team of shipwreck hunters called Endurance22  has assembled off of Cape Town, Africa, and will travel to the western Weddell Sea with the mission of finding the sunken ship.  Two underwater drones connected to the surface by a fiber-optic cable will be used to find where the Endurance has lain.  Images from the drones will be able to be viewed in real time.  The expedition to find the sunken ship has been allotted at least 35 days at sea, but they will have less than two weeks to find the ship.  Stay tuned to the ending of this adventure….
